Look Who's Coming To Lunch?

X-Men: DOFP director Brian Singer tweeted this pic of his very special lunch date:

MARVEL...Of The Dead?

Here is a promo piece being ran by the House of Ideas:

Speculation is that Marvel will be killing off another main character (aren't they always in the works to kill someone off) and it will be Wolverine.  Now this rumor may be true, I think this promo piece is in regards to George Romero writing a zombie book for Marvel.  And I don't mean "Marvel Zombies."

Romero has been quoted as saying "I am also writing a comic for Marvel. I'm writing it now, but its plot is a secret... Well, I can tell you it won't involve any of their on-going characters, there will be no superheroes.  But it will involve zombies!"

That's pretty clear cut, right?

"The best there is at what he does gets an all-new on-going! Pay attention very closely: there’s a mystery here that even Wolverine hasn’t sniffed out yet. When Wolverine finds himself the bargaining chip in a hostage situation, he must make a decision to save a little boy that will follow him forever…literally! DC Announces Their Most Dateable Superheroes

Last Thursday DC asked it's fans to cast a vote for who they believed was the most dateable DC superhero.  The results were posted today and they are no shock to anyone.

Beating out the brooding Bat by a wide margin is Nightwing!

I just want to say thank you DC for this poll.  Without it I wouldn't have googled Nightwing photos and found this lovely mock poster featuring JGL.  It literally stopped me in my google scrolling.  Love it!  I wasn't surprised at all by Nightwing beating out the likes of Batman, Superman, Hal Jordan and all the rest.  He's tall, dark, handsome, a tad dangerous, but still a sweetheart.

Now the most dateable super-heroine did shock me. The winner ultimately was Zatanna!

It has to be those fishnets and the allure of dark magic!  I personally would have chosen Wonder Woman.  Though she is a strong women and probably most men are scared of her, she is a freaking amazon!  Like, literally!

Geeky Dolls on Etsy!

I was browsing Etsy today looking for geek inspired toys for my little one (ok, mainly for me).  Here is a round up of my favorite!

Is Megan Fox Our New April O'Neil?

Michael Bay posted this short note on his website today:

TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!
Michael Bay
And the internet lit on fire with speculation that she is playing April O'Neil.  Most fanboys are raving that this cements the movies impending doom.  Sadly, this is the first news about the new TMNT that I was stoked for.  I love Megan Fox.  No, seriously, I do.  Greatest actress of our time she is not....but she's gorgeous and as good of an actress as you need for a Michael Bay movie.

Sony Unveils My Next Major Purchase

Sony revealed their plans for the PlayStation 4 today during a two hour long press conference.  This would make the PS4 the first new PlayStation in seven years.  The console was promoted by Sony as being like a "supercharged PC" with an eight-core processor able to juggle even more complex tasks simultaneously, enhanced graphics, the ability to play games as they are being downloaded, and a brand new controller designed in tandem with a stereo system camera that can sense the depth of the environment in front of it.

The PS4 is going to make gaming a lot more social.  Players will be able to broadcast their game play in real time, and their friends can peek into their game and hop in to help.

“The architecture is like a PC in many ways, but supercharged to bring out its full potential as a gaming platform,” said Mark Cerny, Sony’s lead system architect.

Of course, we never saw the console during the two hour presentation, though we did see the controller.

Also, no release date was given and no price was given.  If Sony is smart, they will mark it in the $199 range.  Consumers are just not buying $500 consoles with $60 games like they were in 2008 (when console gaming peaked).  More and more people are turning to cheap and often free games that they can play on their smart phone or tablet.  Plus, a $199 price would fit in my budget better.

If you are interested in watching the full two hour presentation, here it is in all it's youtube glory:

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL: Flying Monkeys Feature

What could be cuter than a winged monkey sporting the voice of Zach Braff?  Maybe a puppy with Zach Braff's inner monologue.  Or even a Pur water filter with Zach's soothing tones.  Anything at all is cuter than the fusing of two of my worst nightmares: monkeys dressed as people and birds!  I will admit that Disney does a fair job of making it cute for normal people who do not share my irrational phobias.  Check it out for yourself.

Disney also released this behind the scenes feature:

Downton Abbey as a Comic Book?!

I was browsing geek news today and stumbled across several headlines stating "Downton Abbey Comic Book."  My initial thought was, "what the holy hell is going on here?!"  Now don't get me wrong; I love me some Downton Abbey and I love me some comic books.  But I don't need my two loves to merge into an unholy abomination of long winded sequential art!

Luckily, it's all a big ruse.  Turns out that Bluewater Productions is publishing a comic book entitled, "FEMALE FORCE: LADY ALMINA - THE REAL DOWNTON ABBEY."  The book follows the scandalous life of the woman who originally inspired the television show.  This book has no actual affiliations with the tv show though.  Thank god.  The hour long tv show already feels like 4 hours, I can't imagine what it would be like translated to a comic book.

Michael Troy will write the title for Bluewater, Giuseppe Latanza will illustrate, and Philip Horton providing a cover design.

"I've always had a fondness for snooty British aristocracy and scandal - so this one was a guilty pleasure to work on for sure," said Troy.

Bluewater has previously published biographic comics featuring Princess Diana, Hillary Clinton, JK Rowling and Cher under its Female Force banner.  Now doesn't that all sound like comics that kids are just dying to read?!  ZZZZzzzzzZZZZ.

Female Force: Lady Almina - The Real Downton Abbey will be released on February 20.

Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask in X-Men: DOFP

I just learned that Peter Dinklage, of Game of Thrones fame, will be portraying the main villain in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (which will forever now be referred to as DOFP)!  MTVGeek is reporting that his character will be none other than Dr. Bolivar Trask, inventor of Master Mold and the Sentinel armies.

For those uninitiated in DOFP lore, in the original storyline Bolivar Trask was an anthropologist who saw the rise of mutants as a threat to humanity.  Bolivar decides that humanity has to fight back against the mutants and develops robotic guardians for humanity, known as the Sentinels. Bolivar publishes articles on the threat of mutants and generally harasses mutants on a regular basis.  Ironically, Bolivar's own son and daughter are both mutants.

Now there is also an alternative storyline in Marvel's "Ultimate" Universe that may fit the movie a bit better.  In those books, he’s a member of the government science team creating giant robot Sentinels as a direct response to Magneto’s attacks on the President of the United States.  The Ultimate Trask is definitely more of a sinister character, so I am very much hoping DOFP sticks with the Ultimate storyline.

Let's also not forget that Bolivar Trask has already been depicted in X-Men: The Last Stand by Bill Duke.  Though I personally choose to ignore The Last Stand entirely (mainly due to the killing of my favorite X-Man), I am pretty sure it still exists in movie canon.  Dinklage and Duke look completely different from each other, so either Marvel will just ignore that fact...or this is all make believe and MTVGeek has fed us nonsense.  Let's hope it's true though.
