Chris Evans' Not Handing Down The Cap' Shield Just Yet

In an interview with MTV, Chris Evans spoke about what he loves about the Marvel Universe as a whole, and promised that Captain America 3 would continue down this path:
"It's this giant web of plot, where everything is connected to everything else… that's the beautiful thing and especially for the fanboys who understand these plotlines. With Cap 3, we're going to continue this excitement. Marvel doesn't disappoint. Whatever you're hoping for, you're going to get it."
Evans also addressed the rumor that Cap 3 would be his last outing as Captain America and we would see him hand down the shield to either Bucky or Falcon.
"Who's handing off the shield? Don't take my job from me prematurely dude. I'm sure it'll happen at some point, all good things have to come to an end. But I'm really happy playing the character."
I am so glad to hear it. :)

Is Evangeline Lilly Playing Wasp in Ant-Man?

Marvel Studios has officially announced the roles of Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stiles for Ant-Man.
Stoll will play the film's "bad guy" named Darren Cross, AKA Yellowjacket (cuz, you know, bug themes).  Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man (played by Michael Douglas, will be the mentor for Darren Cross, until their relationship goes sour.
Fans of the comics remember that Yellowjacket was actually one of Hank Pym's alter-ego's when he spazzed out and went all crazy.
Lilly was confirmed as playing Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.  Fans of Ant-Man instantly recognize Van Dyne as the last name of Janet Van Dyne, otherwise know as Wasp.
In the comics, Janet Van Dyne was married to Hank Pym and both were founding members of the Avengers.
This raises interesting questions about how Wasp will play into this movie, if she even shows up at all.  It would seem strange for them to cast an aged Janet Van Dyne as Wasp. My guess is that Janet Van Dyne is deceased and that her daughter will actually take up the mantle of Wasp and will become romantically involved with Paul Rudd's character, Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man. Everything is fun speculation at this point though.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Get Their Own Cartoon!

The Guardians of the Galaxy opens in theaters this week, and I could not be any more excited!  Then I learn that Marvel announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the GotG crew is getting their own cartoon!  Now I am basically frothing at the mouth.
According to Comic-Con attendees, Marvel showed off a 1-minute sneak peek of the cartoon featuring Star-Lord and Rocket test footage.  No date has been set for the debut of the show, though we know it will broadcast on Disney XD alongside Marvel's other current cartoons, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and Avengers Assemble.  Marvel also stated that the Guardians will be making guest appearances in the other Marvel cartoons before they launch their own series, to keep the team fresh in the audiences mind.
Lets hope Marvel makes something good this time. I'm really over the nonsensical plot-lines and fart jokes that plague Ultimate Spider-Man.  Also, I am not digging the Rocket character design AT ALL (see below). But, again, this is a cartoon and aimed at kids, so I really shouldn't complain.  I get a full length GotG movie in less than a week! WOOOO!

Marvel Releases Movie Lineup For Next 5 years

Marvel Studios has released their movie lineup through 2019, which includes five films without titles!  There are two unnamed films in 2017, two in 2018, and one in 2019. According the the announcement, the new films will be hitting theaters July 28th and November 3, 2017 (on top of the previously untitled May 5th, 2017 title); July 6th and November 2nd 2018; and May 3, 2019.  My mind is reeling with speculations! I am betting we find out a bit more of what these mystery movies will be at ComicCon next week.  Please oh please oh please let there be a Black Panther and a Captain Marvel in there somewhere! Can you imagine if Captain Marvel was announced before a Wonder Woman movie?!  Here is what the timetable (and some of my predictions) now looks like:

2015

May 1: The Avengers: Age of Ultron
July 17: Ant-Man

2016

May 6: Captain America 3
July 8: Doctor Strange

2017

May 5: Untitled (Captain Marvel?)
July 28: Untitled (Black Panther?)
November 3: Untitled (GotG 2?)

2018

July 6: Untitled (Avengers 3?)
November 2: Untitled (?)

2019

May 3: Untitled (?)

Hawkeye Gets A Tunic!

A photo of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) on the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron was released online today and left me scratching my head.

Questions I have (along with some obvious answers once I really thought about it):

#1: Why the long sleeved tunic?
A: Based on the sign in the background, this is Russia. It's freaking cold in Russia. Also, I have read that Jeremy is a terrible archer and his arms were fairly hacked up after the first movie.  This would probably relieve that a bit.  Lastly, maybe they are going for this look...but not as cheesy:

If that is the case, they failed miserably.  It turned out to look more like this (as hilariously discovered on io9):

#2:  Why is there a vent in the back of the tunic?! Too much Shawarma or what?

#3: What are the metal devices on the side of the boots?  Something for production purposes or a nifty storage space for more special arrow tips?

#4: It looks like the tunic portion zips away to give us this:

I am okay with this.  And now that I can see the long-sleeved look, I just really do not like the tunic part. It is totally unnecessary and seems cumbersome in a fight.

That is all. :)

The Hemswroth Brothers Take "Charlie Bit Me" To Greatness

If you haven't seen this adorable YouTube video of a baby brother biting his older sibling's finger and the cute way the older boy says "Charlie...you bit me!" then you are missing out on some cuteness!

Now, Jimmy Kimmel Live, along withe Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth, bring us the extended story of these brother as grown men, still struggling with the fact that "Charlie bit me."  It is fantastically brilliant.

I think these brothers need to be in a movie together soon.  Perhaps we can get Liam to play Balder the Brave in a Thor movie?!  Make it happen, Marvel!

GOTG: Set Photos Of Michael Rooker as Yondu

Check out these awesome Guardians of the Galaxy set photos from SuperHeroHype!

I love the practical effects, and I am sure they will be cleaned up some in post production.  But what do you think of Yondu's lack of his dorsal fin?  I wonder if that will be added via CGI or if they are leaving it out...since it is kind of silly looking.

Is Bradley Cooper Voicing Rocket Raccoon In Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

Maybe.  As in "el mayimbe."  Yes, Latino Review is back again with it's trusty inside sources and claims of exclusive news!  El Mayimbe claims to know for a fact that Bradley Cooper's reps have received an offer for Cooper to voice Rocket Raccoon in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy.  Apparently we are just waiting on bated breath for him to accept.

I call bullshit.  Bullshit on the whole thing!  El Mayimbe should be run out of town for the amount of "inside scoops" and "exclusives" that wind up being proved incorrect.  Remember when he reported "exclusively" that Conan star, Jason Momoa, was going to be cast as Drax?  See how that turned out?! He needs to just stop.

Not that I would mind Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket.  I think he would be excellent, even though I prefer Rocket with his cockney accent.  I would also prefer Cooper for a larger Marvel Universe role...say as Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man!

Joss Whedon Talks ABout How Ultron Will Differ in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON...plus my theories!

Us geeks all know that Ultron was created by scientist Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man) and is a bad ass artificial intelligence robot with a ridiculous power set that covers everything from superhuman levels of strength, speed, stamina, durability, and reflexes; flight at subsonic speeds; and various offensive weapons such as concussive blasts of energy fired from its optical sensors and hands, and an "encephalo-ray", which places victims into a deathlike coma.  I mean, what?! That's an insane amount of power!  Many have wondered how Ultron will be handled in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie and will he retain these Superman-esque powers or will he be made a little bit more accessible.

Joss Whedon spoke on this topic with Entertainment Weekly in the magazine's cover story for this week.  “I knew right away what I wanted to do with him,” Whedon says. “He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone who’s a witch.”

The witch that her is referring to is The Scarlet Witch, who has yet to be cast.

Whedon adds that he has to be careful “to ground [the character] while still evoking that guy.” And like a certain giant green Avenger hero, it sounds like large doses of rage will be key to his personality. “As a character I love [Ultron],” Whedon says, “because he’s so pissed off.”

And now the speculation begins....

Okay, so magic is involved with Ultron's origins?  Hmmm.  And Scarlet Witch is the first character to control magic.  She can basically make the improbable happen. Plus she starts off as a villain.  What if she causes J.A.R.V.I.S. to become self aware?  Then Stark attempts to shut him down, but J.A.R.V.I.S. doesn't want to "die" or go back to being a sidekick of Iron Man.  So he flees and looks at evolving himself or his armor into something Iron Man cannot harm....with the element that Tony created himself...Vibranium!  J.A.R.V.I.S. was there when Tony created the element, so he knows where to go to harvest materials needed.  This can place Wakanda (as a source for the materials) in as an easter egg and possible set up for a Black Panther movie.  Wanda, feeling sorry for J.A.R.V.I.S.  helps him in his quest to evolve.  As J.A.R.V.I.S. evolves he may become fond of Wanda, but she rejects him.  J.A.R.V.I.S. is spurned and comes to realize that humans are imperfect creatures and his logical solution is to wipe them out. He comes back stronger due to the vibranium and pissed-offier and calling himself ULTRON!  The Scarlet Witch now has a deep tie to ULTRON and pleads with the Avengers not to "kill him"...that he is only doing this because he has confusing feelings for the first time.  She helps the Avengers take him down with a virus.  Maybe Quicksilver is a hacker too.  I keep forgetting he's in this thing too. When they actually do defeat him, he is not killed, but reprogrammed to be more sympathetic and humanized.  Maybe they transplant his artificial intelligence into a more human-looking android....thus becoming the VISION.

Boom.

James Gunn Is Working Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista Extra Hard For GOTG

James Gunn tweeted that he made Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista reshoot an action scene 22 times to get it just right!  That is dedication!

Keep up the good work, boys!

Is Elizabeth Olsen Going To Be Scarlet Witch In The AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

According to Bleeding Cool news sources, Saoirse Ronan has decided to pass on the opportunity to play Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, in Marvel's The Avengers sequel.  So according to the same source, the studio has now set their sights on Elizabeth Olsen, who is starring in Godzilla and Old Boy.

I honestly didn't even know that the Olsen twins had a younger sister. You can see the family resemblance though.  She is a very pretty girl.  I haven't seen any of her previous films, so I really cannot pass judgment on this possible casting.  I am glad to hear that Saoirse Ronan passed on the part though.  She just doesn't fit for me.

Zero Percent Chance Of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Comic-Con Footage Being Released

When asked what the odds are of the critically acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy Comic-Con footage being officially released by Marvel/Disney, Director James Gunn replied, " Zero precent chance, sorry! I know a lot of you have seen the shaky camera footage, but it was made after 12 days of shooting and isn't a true reflection of the awesomeness we're trying to create for you."

BOOOOOO!  This is absolute crap.  If it doesn't represent the movie you are trying to create, then why show it at all at Comic-Con and D23 Expo?!  I am now on a mission to hunt down someone who cammed the entire presentation.  I WILL see this complete footage.

If you haven't seen the 30 second shaky came, here it is:

And here is a snippet regarding Rocket Raccoon:

And here is a snippet featuring more Star-Lord:

Edgar Wright Speaks On ANT-MAN's Villain

Us comic book fans know full well that Ultron is Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man's, big claim to fame and main villain.  His other villains are quite...cheesy.  We also know that Avengers 2's main villain will in fact be Ultron, leaving many to speculate that Ultron's origin story will be altered to stem from Tony Stark and not Hank Pym.  This leaves Ant-Man without a clear fan favorite villain.

Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, The World's End, Hot Fuzz), director for Marvel's upcoming Ant-Man movie spoke on his decision to not use Ultron as his main villain, "It was never in my script.  Because even just to sort of set up what Ant-Man does is enough for one movie.  It's why I think "Iron Man" is extremely successful because it keeps it really simple.  You have one [villain] sort of -- the villain comes from the hero's technology.  Its simple. So I think why that film really works and why, sometime, superhero films fail -- or they have mixed results -- because they have to set up a hero and a villain at the same time.  And that's really tough.  And sometimes its unbalanced."

Wright also mentions that he is enjoying that Ant-Man, while relatively popular among comic book fans, isn't very popular in mainstream and his backstory is not well known.  "I think theres something in that its a lesser known character, there's hopefully more license.  For the one percent of people who are like "Wait, Hank Pym would never do that!" there's 99 percent going "Who's Hank Pym?" So, to me, the source material is great but it also frees you up to be like: I'm going to make a movie.  This movie is not going to represent 50 years of Marcel comics because thats impossible.  But I'm going to make a 100 minute movie -- or a 110 minutes [laughs]."

Now comes the speculation.  Based off of Wright's comments, will Hank Pym's foe be Scott Lang who steals Hank Pym's technology?  If so, can we get Bradley Cooper for that part?  That'd be excellent.

First Look At THE WINTER SOLDIER! (Updated with even more photos)

Here are some first look snapshots of Sebastian Stan portraying The Winter Soldier in the upcoming Captain America sequel!

Awwwwwee yeah!  Bucky is looking nice as The Winter Soldier!  And there is that hint of silver on his left hand; indicating a cybernetic arm perhaps?!

Some fans have predicted that CA:WS will NOT follow original comic canon, but will in fact reincarnate him as a robot.  This would make more sense to a general audience, but I really hope they don't go that route.  Stick to the script, kids!

Update:  YESSS!  Check out dat arm!

Big ups to DCMarvelFreshman over at CMB for these fantastic photo finds!
